One: uppercase letters. Two: a finely-balanced sense of how to test your hand-eye coordination to breaking point.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/avoidal.com\/\">AVOIDAL<\/a> <\/strong>by <a href=\"http:\/\/hybridmind.com\/\">Hybrid Mind Studios<\/a><strong> <\/strong>is another of those <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ludumdare.com\/compo\/ludum-dare-18\/\">200-odd Ludum Dare 18 games<\/a>, and clearly there can&#8217;t be that many people playing it because I&#8217;ve managed to claw my way up to #6 in the high score table. You&#8217;re a robot, and you have to destroy mines by triggering nearby rockets and floaty red homing blobs to smash into them.\u00a0Simple as that.<\/p>\n<p>If I had <em>one <\/em>complaint \u2013 and it&#8217;s the nitpicky complaint of someone who&#8217;s clearly spent far too long playing the damn thing \u2013 it&#8217;s that the mines only take out one blob at a time, when common sense tells you they should obliterate everything in the vicinity. Otherwise, AVOIDAL just <em>feels <\/em>right, gets thrillingly hectic, and gives you the feeling that, attempt by attempt, you&#8217;re getting that little bit better. Pretty impressive for a game coded in 48 hours.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/avoidal.com\/\">Play AVOIDAL (Flash)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">And then there&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kongregate.com\/games\/lubossk\/you-might-get-nervous\">You MIGHT Get Nervous<\/a> <\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">by Lubos Lenco<\/span>, <span style=\"font-weight: normal;\">which was\u00a0probably coded in 48 <em>minutes<\/em>. It&#8217;s not really a game so much as a primitive test of the ambidextrous skills you&#8217;ve built up over years of playing videogames. As blocks swim all over the screen, your right hand&#8217;s doing one thing, your left hand is simultaneously doing <em>two <\/em>other things, everything moves faster and faster, and your eyes and brain try to keep track of everything at once before eventually catching fire and exploding.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-weight: normal;\"><img class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-591\" title=\"You MIGHT Get Nervous\" src=\"http:\/\/pixelatron.com\/blog\/media\/might-440x330.jpg\" alt=\"You MIGHT Get Nervous\" width=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pixelatron.com\/blog\/media\/might-440x330.jpg 440w, https:\/\/pixelatron.com\/blog\/media\/might.jpg 638w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Honestly, it&#8217;ll put your face into the same involuntary hyper-concentrated grimace you see on people defusing bombs in movies.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kongregate.com\/games\/lubossk\/you-might-get-nervous\">Play You MIGHT Get Nervous (Flash)<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So both these games have two things in common.
